Healthcare Efficiencies Expected to Result From AtlantiCare/M2 IS Collaboration
Edmonds, WA. ─ AtlantiCare, the southeastern New Jersey region’s largest healthcare organization, and M2 Information Systems, Inc., a fully integrated healthcare clinical information systems solution provider, are working together to aggregate AtlantiCare’s hospital patient data for advanced patient care. The cooperative project objective is to enhance ease and maintain security of patient data for doctors and nurses throughout AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center’s (ARMC) 601-bed, two-campus hospital.
M2’s Clinical Data Repository will combine relevant data from AtlantiCare’s separate business applications including its back-end financial system, and present the data via a web browser. “We are a sophisticated healthcare organization with over 200 applications running on a daily basis,” said Dan Morreale, CIO for AtlantiCare and president of its technology business unit. “We expect to use M2’s products to consolidate health related information from various departmental applications and present them to our clinical staff in a comprehensive and easy-to-read format.” Improving efficiency leads to more accuracy, which is imperative in providing quality care, Morreale said.
Morreale explained that the project represents the organization’s objective to continually find ways to improve patient care. “Utilizing the M2 solutions, we will optimize the clinical experience by presenting patients’ most salient clinical history at the point of care – rather than having to send for paper charts or review patient data at a later time.”
Data from patient visits will be captured electronically and be available securely, online. “This literally means that the relevant information will be available at the point of care – it breaks down the pockets of information and lag-time in information transfer,” said Morreale.
