| Projects What's new for 1999 NursingIn 1999 we will begin implementing our Emphas!s Nursing documentation package in 2-3 Beta sites throughout the United States. The first phase of the product installation will begin with static bedside assessments. The goal of starting with static assessments is to familiarize the nursing staff with the process of electronic documentation. The second phase of installation will entail dynamic flow charts. All of the information gathered through bedside documentation, as well as all other clinical information, will reside in the Emphas!s electronic chart. The Emphas!s chart will now offer Hospital staff a completely integrated view of the patients stay. Physicians will now be able to review entire charts from their office, home, or hospital. Windows Transcription M2's character based versions of the Transcription module have been in use for years. It has proven to be an easy to install add-on that provides a high level of functionality traits that the windows based product will continue to expand upon. The Emphas!s Transcription module is based around the industry standard, the Microsoft Word word processor. By providing an interface into the word processor, M2 takes advantage of the power of Word, and the information stored in the Emphas!s database. The module also takes advantage of Microsoft Word's built in programming language: Visual Basic for Applications. This allows for considerable expandability and customized features at the word processor level. With seamless integration into the Electronic Chart, the Radiology Desktop, and Physician Access modules, the Windows Transcription module expands upon the features and functionality already present in the Emphas!s product while providing access to a more modern word processor. The Internet With the release of Dataflex's new web based business process objects, M2 now has the ability to use Microsoft's Internet Information Server and Active Server Pages to access Dataflex files. This provides M2 with the ability to run large portions of our application through a web browser over an Intranet or the Internet. Over the next several months, M2 will be moving portions of the Electronic Chart and the Physician Access modules into this new realm. Converting to this new technology will provide several advantages to the end user., including the following: |
