Emphas!s Pharmacy

Pharmacy operations become highly automated with the Emphas!s pharmacy suite in place. Physician orders can either be traditional ncr copies of order forms or an electronic order from the M2 physician desktop. In either case, an order does not become part of the patient's profile until it has been reviewed by a pharmacist.
Pharmacy functions are entirely integrated with all other aspects of the Emphas!s system, patient data is already present when the profile is established. Patient location and status are automatically updated when transfers or discharges occur. Allergies are recorded during an admitting assessment and display on the profile, MAR and nursing patient summary.
The pharmacy profile becomes an important component of the on-line medical record available to physicians and other clinicians. This requires no additional effort by the pharmacy since the profile is already updated through regular activities. An accumulated total doses by medication is maintained based on distribution from Pharmacy. All operations are made more efficient and controlled from profiles, to charging/crediting to IV prep and labels to Nursing medication administration and MARS.
